The International CORE (ICORE) Conference Rankings provides a ranking of selected Computer Science conferences. Rankings are updated every few years in a process where conferences can make submissions and these are evaluated by expert committees using a range of data metrics developed by our system, as well as user provided data and committee expert knowledge. This holistic assessment that integrates a range of data and metrics with human interpretation, is what makes the ICORE ranking different from many other ranking systems that are either totally automated, or subjective judgements, e.g., the judgements of a single person.
Due to its historical origins the ICORE ranking uses research areas defined by Australia and New Zealand, also known as Field of Research (FoR) codes. The codes covered are those for which CORE, the peak body for Computer Science in Australasia, is responsible. When the CORE rankings became the ICORE rankings the area of Computer Systems Engineering was added to cover areas outside of CORE’s remit, since in the Australasian system these are the responsibility of the Engineering peak body. Current ICORE research areas and their subareas
ICORE rankings are updated every few years (the most recent one was 2025/2026). The next round is expected to run in 2028 with the outcomes in 2029.
The area of Computer Systems Engineering has been added to the ICORE rankings to cover research areas previously outside of CORE's remit.
ICORE continues to manage and update the software analysis tools, web-based submission systems, and the Where People Publish (WPP) tool developed from the original CORE
ICORE announcements are sent out on the rankings mail group (for internationals) and the CORE members mail group (for Australasian academics.) These can be joined here. For more details, please check CORE Mailing Lists/Google groups page.
